Interesting Fact: Kites first became popular in China nearly 3,000 years ago, and were made from the silk fabric used for boat sails with bamboo frames.

Making and flying kites is of course a fun way to spend quality time with your kids, but it can also be a great learning opportunity:

  • Making a kite is a lovely way to spark some creativity in your youngster. They can choose the colors and design for their individual kite and let their imagination go wild!
  • Kite flying is ideal for introducing science and nature topics to children, such as wind speed, weather conditions and aerodynamics.
  • The kite shape is an interesting geometric shape, and is often used in logos, patterns and illustrations. Studying the kite shape can help if your child is learning mathematics topics such as symmetry and angles.
