What’s Included in Our Printable Pirate Hats
There are six different pirate hat designs, that all have their own unique style to help bring out the pirate in everyone! Here’s a list of each one that you’ll find included with this resource:
1. Classic Pirate Hat: A black hat that has a bold gold rim and a classic skull and crossbones in the centre. Decorated with lots of detail it’s the perfect hat for anyone.
2. Bold Skull Pirate Hat: This black hat features a brown rim and has a large skill in the centre of it, perfect for any serious pirate!
3. Simplified Red and Black Pirate Hat: With a combination of a black hat and fun red fabric stripe, this hat also features a gold rim and a small skull and crossbones in the middle. It’s a classic and fun look.
4. Red and Black Pirate Hat: Similar to the previous design but with a little less detail. It has the same black and red colour scheme but more design – part of which is a larger skull and crossbones.
5. Brown and Black Pirate Hat: A combination of both black and brown colours, with a large skull in the centre. This one is perfect for a bold and tough pirate look!
6. Gold Tag Pirate Hat: A variation on the previous design, this black and brown coloured hat features another large skull design and also a gold tag, making it extra special!

How to Use Your Printable Pirate Hats
There’s many different things you can do with these printable pirate hats. Preparing them can be just as much fun as actually getting to play with them later, especially for your craft-loving kids. Here are the steps to turn them into hats:
First, get your kid to pick out their favourite design and then print this out. You can of course print out all of the designs for future crafting and later adventures too. Although regular paper would work fine if that’s all you have, we would recommend thicker paper or cardstock for a more durable hat.
Second, cut out the hat. Carefully cut out around the hat design with a pair of scissors – your little ones can of course help too if they would like to get involved. Working on learning to cut out things carefully can really help their confidence and fine motor skills for later on in life.
Optionally, you could then customise the hats further if you would like. A few different examples of this could be to add glitter for a more sparkly and feminine pirate hat, add pom-poms for more texture, or even add feathers for a more movie-like pirate hat! Use whatever you might have at hand to customise them if you’d like to do so.
Third, attach the elastic to either side of the cut out hat. Make the elastic the same length as the person’s head who will be wearing it. You could even pick out some colourful elastic for a more fun effect.
Then lastly, wear it and have fun! Whether you’re acting out sailing on the high seas, hunting for treasure, or engaging in an epic sword fighting battle, then these hats will really help imaginations run wild.
It’s as simple as that! These hats are great for playtime and creative role-play between kids. Try having some friends over for playtime and see what scenarios they can come up with. Or print a bunch of these out for a pirate-themed birthday party for your kids – get them to create a bunch of different hats at the beginning of the party and then they can wear them throughout. Or it’s simply just a fun thing to do all together as a family, to pick your favourite hat, customise it to be more ‘you’, and then have fun wearing them and playing together later.
