50 Silly Animal Names

Have you ever looked at an animal and thought, That name just doesn’t fit!? My daughter and I sure have! That’s why we decided to give 50 animals brand-new, totally silly names that match their personalities. Why call a kangaroo just a “kangaroo” when you can call it a Boingaroo? And doesn’t a goldfish seem more like a Bloopfish?

We had so much fun coming up with these names together, giggling as we imagined how each animal moves, sounds, or acts. Some of them just had to be renamed—like the goose, which is now a Honkopotamus, and the wiggly snake, which we call a Noodlebeast!

Now, you can enjoy all 50 silly animal names too! Whether you’re reading them online or printing them as flashcards to play games with, get ready to laugh, learn, and see animals in a whole new way!

Why We Created These Silly Animal Names

It all started on a rainy afternoon when my daughter and I were stuck inside, looking for something fun to do. We wanted an activity that would make us laugh, spark our creativity, and keep us entertained. That’s when we started looking at animals and imagining what they should be called instead of their regular names.

Before we knew it, we were coming up with the silliest names possible! A rabbit became a Fluffasaurus, a penguin turned into a Wobblewings, and an otter had to be a Splooteroo (because, well, they sploot all the time!). We couldn’t stop giggling at our own creations!

By the end of the day, we had a whole list of funny animal names—and we knew we had to share them with you! Now, you can enjoy these silly animal names too, whether you read them online or play with our printable flashcards.
